Before shutting down you can verify that the aircraft’s ELT is not transmitting by

  1. Achecking that the ELT switch is in the off position.
  2. Blistening on 121.5 MHz for a signal.Correct answer
  3. Censuring that the master switch is off.
  4. Dchecking the ELT visual warning light.

Why this is the answer

After flight, confirm the ELT didn't fire from the landing by tuning a radio to 121.5 MHz and listening for the warbling tone before you shut down (TC AIM-SAR ELT operating instructions). A switch position or warning light can mislead; the audible signal is the definitive check.
