Terms of Service
The terms that govern your use of Ready for Solo. Formal where it has to be, plain everywhere else.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Ready for Solo (“we”, “us”), and govern your access to and use of the Service.
By creating an Account, starting the Trial, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you accept these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Refund Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Definitions
- “Service” — the Ready for Solo platform: the daily Preflight, the Exams surface (adaptive Smart Cards and mock exams), the Radio surface (voice phraseology practice), and Mae.
- “Mae” — our AI tutor and the AI features that run across the Service.
- “AI Output” — anything Mae or our other AI features generate for you: text replies, per-question explanations, session debriefs, Radio call grading, and synthesized audio.
- “Account” — the account you register to use the Service.
- “Trial” — the 3-day free-access period described in §5.
- “Subscription” — a paid plan that provides continued access to the Service after the Trial, as described in §6.
3. The Service
The Service is an AI-powered training platform for Canadian student pilots, operated from Canada. It is supplementary training: it is not a substitute for instruction from a Transport Canada-licensed flight instructor, and nothing on the Service is authoritative for licensing.
We are not endorsed by or affiliated with Transport Canada. Transport Canada is the sole authority for pilot certification.
4. Eligibility & your Account
You must be 14 or older to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your province, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf and accepts responsibility for your use.
You register an Account with an email and password, and we send a verification link before the Account becomes active. You are responsible for the accuracy of your information and for keeping your credentials safe; we never have access to your password.
5. The Trial
New Accounts receive a 3-day Trial that begins when you verify your email — full access, no credit card required. The Trial is granted once per user; we use a hashed device fingerprint to discourage repeat-trial abuse. When the Trial ends it simply expires — there is no charge. If you do not subscribe, your progress is held for 30 days.
6. Subscription & billing
After the Trial, continued access requires a paid Subscription billed through Stripe. Plans are $29 CAD/month or $228 CAD/year (the annual plan is four months free). Any applicable sales taxes are calculated at checkout based on your billing address.
Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel. You may cancel at any time from the Stripe customer portal, linked from your Account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and you keep access through that period.
We may change our prices. If a change affects your plan, we will email you first, and the new price applies only from your next renewal — never mid-term on a period you have already paid for.
For refund terms, see the Refund Policy.
7. Refunds
There is no refund window — the 3-day Trial is the refund. You get full access before you ever enter a card, so you can decide before paying. Limited exceptions (such as a double-charge or a billing error) are covered in the Refund Policy.
8. AI Output — verify everything critical
AI Output is produced by large language models and text-to-speech systems. It is useful but not infallible. Verify anything that matters against the Transport Canada Aeronautical Information Manual (TC AIM), the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), or your instructor — never rely on Mae alone for a licensing decision or a safety-of-flight decision.
We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of AI Output, and AI model behaviour can change over time.
9. Your content — and ours
The answers, messages, and recordings you submit remain yours. You grant us the limited licence needed to process them — including sending them to the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy— so we can run the Service, grade your work, and generate your debriefs. You are responsible for what you submit, and you agree not to submit anything unlawful or that infringes someone else's rights.
Everything else that makes up the Service — the software, Mae, the question banks and Radio scenarios, the designs, and the Ready for Solo name and logo — belongs to us or our licensors. Your Subscription is a personal, limited, non-transferable licence to use the Service for your own training; it does not transfer any ownership, and you may not copy, resell, or redistribute it.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Share your Account credentials, or let others use your Account.
- Resell, redistribute, or scrape Service content.
- Reverse-engineer the AI prompts or attempt to extract our source material.
- Use the Service to harass, harm, or defraud anyone.
- Submit content that violates anyone's rights or applicable law.
11. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate an Account that violates these Terms, abuses the AI systems, or triggers payment disputes — we will tell you why where we can. You may delete your Account at any time from your Account settings; deletion cancels any active Subscription and removes your progress, threads, and attempts. Some financial records are retained as required by law (see the Privacy Policy).
We may also delete free Accounts that have been inactive for 12 months, after a warning email — see the Privacy Policy for our full retention schedule.
12. Disclaimers, liability & your rights
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
We are not liable for any pilot decision, flight outcome, examination result, or licensing decision. Aviation training is high-stakes; your instructor and Transport Canada are the authoritative path.
If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used the Service or because you breached these Terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs we incur as a result.
None of the above limits rights you have under consumer-protection or other laws that cannot be waived by agreement. Where such a law gives you a right we cannot exclude, that law applies.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Manitoba and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Manitoba.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will email the address on your Account at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new Terms.
15. General
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a term right away, that is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours to an affiliate or a successor — for example when we incorporate the business or if it is acquired — without affecting your rights.
