Free PSTAR practice Regulations – Canadian Airspace

Normally, a helicopter in uncontrolled airspace at less than 1,000 feet AGL may operate during the day in flight visibility which is not less than

  1. A½ mile.
  2. B1 mile.Correct answer
  3. C2 miles.
  4. D3 miles.

Why this is the answer

Under CAR 602.115, a helicopter in uncontrolled airspace by day below 1,000 ft AGL needs flight visibility of at least 1 mile (the relaxed helicopter minimum) and must stay clear of cloud. The 2-mile figure applies to aeroplanes, not helicopters, at that height.
