Free PSTAR practice Controlled Airspace

When in VFR flight within a Control Zone, a pilot must remain clear of cloud by at least

  1. A500 feet vertically and 2,000 feet horizontally.
  2. B500 feet vertically and 1 mile horizontally.Correct answer
  3. C1,000 feet vertically and 1 mile horizontally.
  4. D1,000 feet vertically and 3 miles horizontally.

Why this is the answer

A control zone is controlled airspace, so the same cloud clearance applies: at least 500 feet vertically and 1 mile horizontally (CAR 602.114(c)). The 2,000-foot horizontal trap is the uncontrolled-airspace value.
